First off, thanks again so much, everybody! You're all so generous and wonderful, it was such a blessing and such a relief!!! It made me cry to see how awesome everyone is. :)

My dad came out of surgery well. His blood pressure's really high, so they're keeping an eye on him, but other than that things went perfect. Now I just have to try not to worry about my grandpa's surgery on Friday. *fingers crossed*

ETA: Wow, y'all. I'm floored. You're all so amazing! I have the money I need already, thanks to you all. Thanks again, you're so great!

I don't normally come to y'all asking for money, but I'm doing so today. I need $15 by 10am EST tomorrow, so that my dad can have his shoulder surgery. He's been in extreme pain: he's been on heavy duty painkillers for years, and they've stopped working, so they scheduled surgery.

But here's the thing: my dad missed his EKG and ECG appointments, so I was told his surgery was off. Well, today he managed to reschedule to get them done the day of the surgery, which is tomorrow. The thing is, we were told it was FOR SURE off, so we spent the gas money we had on food.

We have no way to make it to my hometown for my dad's surgery. And without us there, they won't do it - he's high risk because of his blood condition, and needs me, his medical proxy, there. He has no other friends or family that are able to do this. It's me or nothing. And my dad is on social security for his disability, and is out of money at the moment.

So I'm coming to you guys: could you please help me find the gas money to make it to Grand Rapids tomorrow? I only need $15, but without it my dad can't have his surgery. Please?

Also, anyone who donates can request an original fiction drabble from me. I write every rating, and all varieties: het, gen, slash, and femslash. Some samples of my writing can be found here.

We have a Paypal credit card, so any money sent there will be perfect. I'm going to be up all night, or until I can find a way to get this money, so I'll be updating as I go. Even if you can't donate, please pass this on, in case someone else can.

Thank you so, so much for donating to help my dad have his surgery! This means so much to me and my family.

Go ahead and request whatever sort of original fiction drabble you'd like here. I'll get them done asap! I write everything: het, gen, slash, femslash, of all ratings. The only request is that if your request includes triggers, please warn.

If you need some ideas, some samples of my writing are here.

Thank you again, you're wonderful!

I didn't watch the newest Psych when it aired because I was in a NaNo seclusion, so I just watched it tonight. And OMFG am I glad I did. I missed this show so freaking bad!

*shivers* I'm watching The Grudge right now. IDEK why, since it scared me so bad the first, say, thirteen times I saw it that I had severe panic attacks, and slept with the light on for weeks. I guess I was hoping that as time passed, the movie would seem dorkier and less scary, especially considering how bad/funny the second one was (I'm still waiting for Netflix to send me the third one). I was wrong: the original still scares the shit out of me. *shivers again, and forces myself to think of happier things*

Woot, I got my [community profile] origfic_bingo card. It's gen, and I'm super-excited about it. I got it a few days ago, but between my anniversary and food shopping (more on at least one of those coming soon in an access-locked post), I've been too busy to post it. To busy to post, but not to spend time daydreaming about it. Tonight and probably tomorrow I'm working on getting information for the various universes I want to play in for the bingo challenge up and available (possibly longer, depending on whether my wife feels good enough to help me with my website tomorrow - she's so sick right now she's slept all day).

( Check out my awesome-sauce bingo card after the cut. )

Just three more days until the forums restart, and 34 days until NaNoWriMo begins! Woot! In honor of that, I'm reccing the DW NaNoWriMo friending meme.

Between that and [community profile] origfic_bingo, my October will be full of plotting and fun. :)

I just got a paid account here (woot, go DW!), so I figured it was high time I started making my own posts for Follow Friday.

Communitites

[community profile] psych - A fandom community for the USA show Psych, the community is a bit on the slow side and could use some new members to really jazz things up. C'mon, bring the pineapple and join the party!

[community profile] sherlockbbc - A fandom community for the BBC show Sherlock. Because the epic love of both Sherlock and Watson needs to be shared, and because the modern AU is just more fun.

[community profile] access_fandom - Fandom can have its share of disability and access woes, as well as highlights. This is a community to discuss them all, share articles, and to brainstorm new ways of doing things. This comm also recently hosted Festibility 2010, which I was thrilled to participate in.

[community profile] cryptozoo - A community devoted to cryptozoology, this comm never really got busy. I'd love to see more members and more posts there, because cryptozoology is such an interesting field.

[community profile] bechdel_test - Applying the Bechdel Test to movies, this community discusses those that pass, those that are close to passing, and those that fail miserably. The more members there are, the more movies that can be discussed, and the more fun can be had by all. The archives also include some interesting looks at movies and movie trends.

[community profile] fic_promptly - It's like comment_fic on LJ, only better organized and more fun.

[community profile] cookability - I've only recently found this community, and I'm in love with it. It's devoted to sharing recipes that are easy for people who have limited emotional or physical energy. I'd love to see more people posting and sharing, particularly some more veg*n recipes!

Feeds

[syndicated profile] psych_news_feed - I created this feed to bring the LJ newsletter for Psych fandom to the reading pages of DW users. That way we can keep up on all of the Psych love from our home base.

[syndicated profile] disabledfeminists_feed - A feed for the blog FWD/Feminists With Disabilities. I love the site and the posts being discussed, and like being able to read them from my reading page even better.

[syndicated profile] cakewrecks_feed - This feed and blog almost always makes me laugh until I cry. A feed for the blog Cake Wrecks, it has posts about the worst professionally decorated cakes around.

Most of my posts on this journal are access only. Due to one of my disabilities I prefer to discuss my personal life and some social justice issues in the relative privacy of my access circle. That doesn't mean that there aren't any public posts, though. I post almost all of my fiction (fan and original) publicly, as well as many of my reaction posts.

Feel free to subscribe to me whenever you want. I love getting comments on my public entries. I also like getting to know new people, so if you leave a comment here I'll most likely subscribe back. However, if I don't know you and/or we don't have any interests in common, I might not grant you access.

Every day is unsubscribing amnesty day here at my journal, which I feel makes for less anxiety on the part of everyone involved. That goes for people I've granted access to, as well as those folks that I subscribe to.

I'm still working on the drabbles. They keep getting away from me, and are trying to turn into something epic. So I'm in the process of beating them into submission. If anyone else wants to request one, the post is here.

Before I post my reactions, I wanted to make yet another point about how awesome captions are: they really help me to spell names correctly. Especially for characters that are only on the show for one episode, and things like that. It's really cool and convenient.

Now, for my reactions to White Collar. There were a lot of them for this episode.

( Spoilers for White Collar episode 2.02 below cut. )

And now onto this weeks Covert Affairs. Man I love this show: I've watched the first episode three times, already. It also got me interested in Alias, which I've never seen but always heard good things about. I'm about four episodes into the first season, and I'm loving it. Jen Garner is so hot, and kickass.

But, ahem. This part of the reaction post is about Covert Affairs.

( Spoilers for Covert Affairs episode 1.02 below cut. )
